Blog #2 - Go Ask Alice

Blog #2 - Go Ask Alice

In my previous blog I discussed with you the life of the main character in my book, Alice. She's a high school student going down the path of drugs, sex, and running away. I ended the first blog with the question, "The lack of parental supervision will make them more addicts than ever before. Do you agree, or disagree?" Them was referring to Alice and her friend Chris who she ran away to San Francisco with. If you agreed with that question, you were very correct. Once they had moved to S.F. they had found a new group of users within about three weeks. When they started using again, they were almost immediately hooked. After a couple weeks of doing Acid, and Heroin every other night, Alice and Chris had once again hated the fact they were right back where they were before moving to S.F. So, they thought quitting their jobs, moving to a new town, and starting their own store would be a better opportunity somehow. After they'd quit their jobs, Alice had started using pretty much all day every day. She'd met a group of kids headed North to see a nice village, and all along the way they were using as well. By the time she'd made it to the location her and her new friends were heading to, she could find any of them. So after about another two weeks of using, sleeping on the streets, and begging, she went to a Church to try to get help. She met with a janitor who ultimately ended up getting in touch with her parent's, and they were on their way to get her.
Once back, Alice had vowed to never to drugs again, start getting better grades, and mean more to her family.

Do you think that Alice will succumb to the same demise as last time, making empty promises to her self, or do you think that Alice will stay on track?

  1. I think that unless she has someone constantly supporting her and helping her stay away from drugs she can stay clean, but if doesn't and there's no one to stop her then she'll probably just cave in and start using again.

  2. I agree with Shane, Alice needs someone to rescue her. If my memory serves me correctly, is this book written in the form of a diary? does Alice write in the diary when she is high?

    1. Yes, this book is written in the form of a diary. And not always is it written under the influence, but when ever she is using she tends to write afterwards about how she felt as if she was flying through the galaxy.

  3. It would depend on how her brain works. She seems to have an addictive personality. I can't say for sure but I do believe that she may start using again.

  4. I think that if she gets the proper support from her friends and family that she will be able to keep her promise, but if she isn't given a lot of help she will fall into addiction again.

  5. I think that Alice will stay on track this time. If she wants to get somewhere in life. If not then she'll go back to doing drugs, but I don't think so. It looks like she is starting to feel sorry for what she did.

  6. I feel if Alice really wants to make a change in her life she will stop doing drugs especially if she had tried to stop before . I think you need the help from your family not a friend that is into the same thing.I also feel that because Alice had vowed to never to drugs again, start getting better grades, and mean more to her family. she will keep that promise because she saw how drugs effected her before.

  7. I think that Alice will get help this time and change her life around. You would think after living on the streets for a couple weeks you would think that she would be tired of it already. If I was her I would want to go back home after a couple weeks on the streets.
