Blog #1 - Go Ask Alice

We we're given the task to summarize our recently distributed books, so here's mine.  'Go Ask Alice,' is a novel about a young girl in high school going down a nasty road of drugs, popularity, and will not recover. At the beginning of the novel she is in her home town, but the family was moving pretty far away soon. After she is forced to move and leave her friends behind, she gets very depressed and doesn't make much new friends at her new school. Once Summer came around, Alice wanted to visit her Grandparents in her home town for a few weeks. Once there, Alice was re-introduced to a new group of friends who were as she claimed to be the 'popular kids'. These kids had drugged her the first night meeting her with LSD, and then she started to enjoy the things those kids did. After a couple weeks of doing drugs, then regretting it, Alice wen't home for school.

Once back at school, she met a new friend named Chris. Chris had a similar kind of past, so she was able to relate and understand Alice more easily. A few months into the school year, Alice now hating her home life, Chris had convinced Alice that it was a good idea to drop out of school, and start a new life in San Francisco together. They'd left to avoid being tempted by friends like they used to have, who were always doing drugs. But I fear that once they do find friends like their old ones, the lack of parental supervision will make them more addicts than ever before. Do you agree, or disagree?
